Prophetic Supplication for Protecting Children

Young children are vulnerable to evil eye and demonic harms. The Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge for his grandsons Al-Hasan and Al-Husain, saying: 'Your forefather [Ibrahim] used to seek refuge with these words for Ismail and Ishaq' (Bukhari 3371). This is the authentic alternative to amulets.

أُعِيذُكُمَا بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ، مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ
Translation (EN)
The Prophet (ﷺ) used to seek refuge for Hasan and Husain saying: 'I seek refuge for both of you with the Perfect Words of Allah from every devil and poisonous reptile, and from every harmful envious eye.'
How to Perform / When to Recite
Place your right hand gently upon the child's head and recite: 'U'eedhuka (for a boy) / U'eedhuki (for a girl) / U'eedhukuma (for two children) bi-kalimatil-lahit-tammah...', and blow lightly in the morning, evening, and before leaving home.
